Starting Back, Branching Out

Back to Church

After 5 long months, our church will re-open its doors for services this Sunday! It’s exciting, but challenging, as we have strict government guidelines that we must adhere to. As a result, our services will be vastly limited in size, with us eventually running multiple services for smaller gatherings. One of these will be a service that I have volunteered to organise especially for Families and Children. In the meantime, we continue to serve online through Zoom.

Back to School

Yesterday was not only Ethan’s first day back at School, but it was also his first full-day of school. Next week Lydia will start back on scheduled days and soon they will both be back in school full-time. It’s a real blessing for the kids to be able to see their friends again, and it also frees up Miriam and I to have more time for ministry hours.

Back to Welsh

Our Welsh lessons are starting back in mid-September, and we’re eager to get our rusty Welsh-brains working again. Just this week, I’ve had two conversations in Welsh, reminding me of its importance. Mae’n pwysig iawn!

Back to Shuffle and Shake

Much work has been done this week to put together all the pieces for Shuffle and Shake to start back again on October 2nd. It’s tricky as we are required to have the youth maintain 2 meters of “Social Distancing” at all times! But where there’s a will, there’s a way! Hopefully, this restriction will be lessened by next month.

Branching Out with Minecraft

Our summertime Church-based Minecraft Ministry has been a blessed success. We’ve had several from outside our church inquire about joining in. This led me to come up with the idea of a Minecraft Sunday School YouTube Channel (click the link to check it out). So far, we’ve had lots of positive feedback and I’m looking forward to reaching more people.

Potential at the Skatepark

Ethan and Lydia love our local skatepark. If it’s not raining, we’re there! As a result, I’ve noticed it is a hub of youth activity. I’ve met at least 6 old youth acquaintances there in recent weeks. I feel God is leading me to do some form of ministry there, but I’m not sure yet what it would look like.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for all these things starting back up: Church services, Our family-focused service, Our kids going back to school, Re-starting our Welsh lessons, Re-starting Shuffle and Shake… For safety from Covid -19 and God’s blessing in all these areas.
  • Please pray for areas where we trying to pioneer new work: Minecraft Sunday School YouTube Channel, Volunteering in local Schools (esp. Ysgol Bod Alaw), and direction in regard to a Skatepark Ministry.

Thank you for your prayers and support!
